Ruowei Liu (b.2004)
My practice is situated within mixed-media painting and grounded in the embodied intuition and intergenerational memory I inherit as a descendant of nomadic cultures from the grasslands. By engaging the instability and fluidity of materials, I seek to render perceptible the shifting energies exchanged between living beings and the natural environment. The work attends to moments where emotional perception exists between emergence and dissolution, and to the oscillation of memory and myth between return and retreat. Materials do not function as narrative carriers; rather, their texture, weight, and material presence actively contribute to meaning.
